GRAMMY in the Schools

The GRAMMY Foundation influences the lives of young people by opening the windows of opportunity that music can provide for their futures. Our nationwide programs range from afternoon sessions with artists such as GRAMMY Career Day, to longer intensive experiences such as GRAMMY Camp and GRAMMY Camp — Jazz Session, all designed to bring youths together with working professionals. GRAMMY in the Schools programs also recognize excellence in music education through cash prizes and scholarships for schools across the country with our GRAMMY Signature Schools program.

• GRAMMY Music Educator Award: In recognition of the significant role of teachers in shaping their students’ musical experiences, the GRAMMY Foundation and The Recording Academy have partnered to present the Music Educator Award. Open to current U.S. music teachers in grade kindergarten through college, the third annual Music Educator Award will be given out during GRAMMY Week 2016.

• GRAMMY Camp: A summer camp for high school students with a focus on the many careers in the music industry. The deadline to apply is March 31.

Selectees receive an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles during GRAMMY Week to perform at GRAMMY-related events, record an album, attend the GRAMMY Awards, and are eligible to receive $2 million in scholarships.

• GRAMMY Camp — Weekend: A one non-residential music industry experience where a small group (20-30) of high school students can gain an introduction to the business of music. Each weekend session concentrates on one to three career tracks (Audio Engineering, Electronic Music Production, Songwriting, Video Production or , Vocal Performance). Participants leave with a better understanding of how the music business works and how they can begin to plan to a successful career path. The GRAMMY Foundation partners with local teen centers, schools and community organizations who help identify and select students to attend.

• GRAMMY Signature Schools: Provides awards and monetary grants to public high school music programs based upon need. Awards and grants are also given to top public high school music programs.

• GRAMMY Signature Schools Community Award: The GRAMMY Foundation’s GRAMMY Signature Schools Community Award offers financial support to local high school music education programs using the model of the GRAMMY Signature Schools program. This partner supported program allows the GRAMMY Foundation to identify and select a high school music program in communities around the country to receive a grant of $2,000. To date, approximately $800,000 in grants has been distributed to approximately 421 schools in almost all 50 states.
